 Despite adversities in domestic politics, foreign private investment has risen 147% YoY and continues to be a dominant feature over the last three months. This reflects investors’ confidence on Pakistan’s future economic growth prospects.
Pakistan’s economic performance in the past five years has been commendable. GDP growth is higher, poverty rates are down, inflation is lower, FDI is up, and fiscal deficits are down. It is currently under construction and expected to be completed by 2008. The centerpiece of the mixed-use scheme, commissioned by Pak Gulf Ltd, is a 37-storey, 350-bedroom luxurious 7-star hotel topped by a panoramic restaurant capturing views of both the city and the mountainous skyline above it. When complete, the Centaurus will be the second seven-star hotel in the world, and the first in Pakistan.
Saudi based Developer Pak Gulf Ltd are looking to Pakistan as an emerging and highly profitable market. The developers hope that the $315 million dollar project when complete in 2008, will not only break the mould in terms of development scale but also be a highly recognizable modern landmark. Construction work has begun on the Centaurus Hotel in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, and has been nicknamed "the ski jump" by locals thanks to its unique profile.
